12 Days of Science December 21 - January 1 |
The Twelve Days of Science—an annual tradition at MSC—kicks off on December 21st and runs through January 1. Each of the twelve days has a different theme of exploration and activities and demonstrations throughout the building match the topic. Celebrate the Winter Solstice on the 21st—the first day of winter. Other days include a look at snow, construction techniques, the sounds of the season, and more before we ring in the new year twelve hours early during Midnight Noon. Check the calendar of events on our website to see what’s in store on the day you plan to visit. |

Giving Tuesday |
Please consider a gift to the Maryland Science Center on Giving Tuesday. The Maryland Science Center relies on private support to continue its mission to educate about the importance of science, especially in our work with school children and early learners. Science is so important in every aspect of our lives and in an increasingly fast-paced world it is critical that future generations have the knowledge base they need. Your gift to the Science Center helps fund this critical work and helps spread that teaching and learning into the community far and wide. |

A Sweet Transformation |
Stroll through the Science & Main exhibit on Level Two and you’ll step foot in a winter wonderland complete with a Baltimore-themed gingerbread village we’re calling Sweet Street. Amidst the lights and the holiday music, the hand-crafted village features rowhomes, a working train, a lighthouse on the bay, and more. In fact, the more you look, the more surprises you’ll see. Sweet Street was a collaboration between staff and visitors over the past many months culminating in this unique display. Kids in Summer Camp, visitors to the Shed, and staff created every single building and accent piece on display. Be sure to stop by during this limited-engagement exhibit. |

Holiday Presents for You |
This holiday season the Maryland Science is wrapping up a full lineup for visitors during the month of December. The monthly theme is the Science of Sweet with special activities all month long focusing on seasonal treats. In addition to our handmade Gingerbread Village, the planetarium has added showings of Star Light Gingerbread Nights—a look at the night sky with the help of gingerbread astronomers. We’ve also added extra IMAX and planetarium shows, especially during the holiday week at the end of the month. And of course, live science and cool demonstrations pop up around every corner while you visit. For a full list of shows and times on the day you plan to visit check out the interactive calendar on our website. |
